Updated: Join us on Saturday, October 6th, for a drive through the Fingerlakes ending at The Little Speed Shop in Rochester for lunch and talk by BMW Tech Guru Mike Miller.
We will begin our tour at The Apple Farm in Victor (1640 State Route 444, Victor, NY 14564). Our original starting point (Cole & Parks Bakery) is no more, and is being replaced by a car wash. While that would have allowed us to start our drive with clean cars, the coffee and pastries might have left a little to be desired. Instead, we have shifted our meeting point south a bit to the Apple Farm, where we will meet at 9:30 am to enjoy fresh donuts, cider, and coffee before embarking on our drive promptly at 10:00.
We will drive down through the Fingerlakes and loop back up to end at noon at The Little Speed Shop in Rochester (770 Emerson Street, Rochester, NY 14606). At TLSS we will enjoy a delicious lunch from 12-2 provided by "Gary's Dog N It" Food Truck with a full lunch menu of chicken, burgers, hot dogs, and sides. Please patronize Gary's for lunch, as GVC BMW is not charging admission to this event, but we need to support our fellow GVC member and small business owner.
From 1-3 Mike Miller will answer all questions about BMWs. Mike is renowned for his "Tech Talk" columns for Roundel and Bimmer magazines, expert on technical and general questions on Bimmers of all ages. Having trouble with the carberator on your 1968 2002? Or the HVAC on your 2018 M2? And what exactly does "Lifetime Fill" mean? Mike is your guy. Come get answers to all your technical and maintanence questions and enjoy the cameraderie of your fellow GVC members and our extended family of Rochester-area car nuts. Bimmers not required to attend!
There is no fee for this event, as participants will pay for their own lunch.
Mike Miller's talk at The Little Speed Shop will be BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair), so throw a camp chair in your trunk and join us for a day of driving, lunch, and a great discussion of all things BMW.

Information about Mike Miller:
Mike Miller has been a Roundel magazine staff member since 1991 and Technical Editor since 1997. Previously he was Product Review Editor. In addition, he was a contributor and de facto technical editor at Bimmer magazine since from 1999 until its untimely demise in 2017. His current readership is estimated to be about 75,000 worldwide. Mike’s job is to answer BMW technical questions for his readers which he does via email, drawing from experience, BMW technical information, and a network of subject matter experts. He works as an independent contractor through his company, Drive Wheels, LLC.
Previously he was on the staff of European Car from 1999-to-2007. His writing has also appeared in Sports Car Illustrated , AutoWeek , and Cycle World.
Mike’s BMW expertise began in the mid-1980s with freelance work at two shops in Northeastern Pennsylvania and one in Central Vermont. He became a BMW enthusiast early in life, “about the time they took away my binkie,” he says.
Mike is also a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania practicing elder law and real estate law, working as Of-Counsel at William J.
Rinaldi, Attorneys at Law, in Scranton. He served in the Navy Reserve from 2000-to-2009 and separated as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. His final reserve unit was stationed at the Pentagon. Mike also worked for Cubic Defense Applications from 2008-to- 2011. He is an American Legionnaire, Post 306.
Mike has a full shop in the large garage behind his house in the sleepy borough of Taylor, a suburb of Scranton in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where he lives alone amongst a small collection of BMWs in various stages of need. His hobbies include classic BMWs, grand touring driving, motorcycle trips, and cooking. He has passion for classical music, antiques, animals, and volunteering.
